In 2009 Merit completed the Forrest Library and additional
classrooms, staff facilities and IT department for Hale School. The
three separate buildings, offering 6,000 square meters of
teaching-learning space, was constructed using a combination of
concrete slabs, load bearing brickwork and pre-cast columns and
beams. The attractive library facade and school entry was achieved
using Terracade, Alucabond and Donnybrook stone. The project won
James Christou and Partners an architectural award from the
Australian Institute of Architects for successful indoor-outdoor
relationships of spaces and the buildings interaction with existing
school buildings.
